Home and recovering

I got to come home yesterday night from the hospital and I am doing quite well. Still weak but I am walking quite well and the pain has subsided. Thanks to everyone for the prayers and kind thoughts. While in the hospital I worked on my patriotic quilt center. As of tonite here is where I am.

I hope to get this done in a few days and the quilt put together on two weeks.

Jim's Birthday

Jim had his birthday on Tuesday and unfortunately our wonderful best laid plains went array. Monday morning I woke up paralyzed from the waist down..another RTM attack. That stands for recurrent transverse myelitis. So we spent his birthday here at IU med center. I am still here. Pam, his sister came down for the week so we could all visit and so we are making the best of it. I have movement now but still in quite a lot of nerve pain. They gave me an air bed and I also have a waffle mattress on top that is helping to keep me comfortable. I spent most of yesterday and today on my belly because I was hurting so much and couldn't be touched on my back, backside or hips. I am making progress and the pain is being better controlled. Keep praying.

Well we had a little "wild party" on Tuesday here in my room for Jim. He had the day off so we all had a good time. I bought him a brand new Droid X and an upgrade to his MLB at go app so he can watch the games as well as here them on the radio. He has always been a die hard Tigers fan but we have often lived in Indiana where we don't get those games picked up. We even used to buy the baseball packages with Directv but still games would be blacked out. Now he can watch every single one.for next to nothing. It's pretty awesome.we used to just listen to them but this is so much better. So he is a happy birthday hubby. Here are some pics from our celebration.

What's this. Pam wrapped up a present for our Sheba for daddy to give to her. Is she spoiled or what.

Wednesday they gave me a real treat and brought Sheba to come.visit with me. It was really nice.

I am so blessed to be loved by so many. All my stitching friends have been praying for me and emailing me little notes of encouragement. I appreciate all of you.

Past projects

Well I wanted to show off some of my past projects over the years. I was looking at my pics today and was reminded of many that had not shared with you all. Went to the mailbox and was surprised to find a letter from one of my Mennonite friends who lives in PA. Today has been a good day and tonight Jim and I are going out with some friends to Applebee's. Should be lots of fun

Well without further ado here come the pictures

This was a scarf I made one of my nurses when I was in the rehab hospital for my paralysis
This scarf I made for my sister-in-law, Pam for Christmas one year. She loved it. Pammy is my best friend and the sister I have always wanted. She is a real sweetheart. t The Rehabilitation Hospital of Indianapolis. It is one of the top two rehab places in the country. They were unbelieveable and boy did I work hard. Hardered than I had ever worked in my life. By the end of the day I was exhausted then I would get up and do it all over again.
Another scarf......

This is a beautiful mural that is on one of the floors of Community South Hospital in Indianapolis. I often am in the hospital with this disease that I have called Recurrent Transverse Myelitis. But God is always there with me and He gives me a reason to smile. We all have a cross to bear and this is mine. How we chose to bear our crosses speaks loudly of our true faith and our Christian character. I admit I don't always seek God first when I am sick. I have a tendency to give in to fear but I keep trying and for the most part I keep a true smile on my face. Why? Because the joy of the Lord is my strength. Also His strength is made perfect in our weakness. How great it is to not have to face our crosses alone. That when Jesus comes to live inside of us He creates us new and gives us joy from Him. Not a wordly happiness but a holy and perfect joy. Lord let me live that joy so that others may know You and want to know You. In Jesus name, Amen

StitchMAP pillow swap

I am a member of yahoo groups stitchMAP. It is such a wonderful group of needlearts artists. I found out about the group from a Blogger friend of mine Kathy Shaw on her blog http://shawkl.blogspot.com/ I have come to really love these stitchers and let me tell you the group is really unique. It is a group focused on keeping the needlearts alive. Map stands for mentor apprentice. There are lots of courses to take and with each.course you are assigned a mentor. What a valuable resource. Please consider joining. It will be worth your while. Here os where you go...

Go to StitchMAP

Now more about the disign. I got it from an old magazine called Cross Stitch Plus. I think it was called berry sampler..I put the magazine away. I stitched it for Amber. I think the older cross stitch magazines have some great patterns. I collect them and on rainy days l get out and enjoy flipping through them and they cheer.me up. Well that's all.

Stars and Stripes

I am making my father in law a special quilt. The center will be stitched which you will see below. The quilt squares are red white and blue nine patch with peoples signatures on it. I am stitching so fast to get it done in a week. It's turning out nice. Here is the progress Saturday.

And here.is Sunday's progress..

I received my hoe snowman the other day. The back is so soft. Jen stitched it for me.

Today I am sitting in my favorite chaise lounge with my German Shepherd, Sheba watching Murder She Wrote season three. I loved the 80s shows. They were family oriented and had such great messages. Not true of todays prime time TV. Well a stitching I must go....

Exchanges.

Wanted to post some pics of exchanges sent and received. The first is my prairie Schooler exchange that I sent to Gabi in Australia. I made the tulip from Book 51 Garden Blooms.

Then Thursday I got this cute little snowman in my mailbox from Jen at HOE.

The back is really soft. I held it I'm my hand the longest time. Thanks so much Jen. I LOVE it.

Jim took me to a doctors visit on Thursday in Indy and as we were walking back we ran into this lady and her therapy dog. It's a Bichon Frisee.

This dog had real hair not fur. It was calming stroking your fingers over it. It felt like a big cotton ball. Very soothing.

Today is going well. I spent the morning playing my flute which is always a great joy. Then Jim and I watched a movie called K9 P.I. It was really good. It is nice to watch movies that aren't filled with a bunch of junk. Of course I stitched while I watched. I found a wallhanging that is embroidered that is patriotic that will be the center of a quilt for my father -in-law. I will post a pic later. Now Jim and I are watching the baseball game..The Tigers of course. I got him an early birthday present of a Droid X and I upgraded his MLB atbat 2011 app to be able to watch the games not just hear them. He is in heaven.

Stitching and organizing.

Still can't post what I'm stitching. My one exchange hasn't reached Australia yet though I'm hoping real soon. My stitchMAP pillow swap is done and ready to be mailed. My hoe snowman ornament is almost done and will soon go out in the mail too.

I was out walking in the yard and thought I would share some of the sights....

Does anyone know what plant this is. It's is different but very pretty.

I love daisies anytime..

Course I have to include a pic of the sweetest smelling rose ever, the Tropicana Rose. I have on in a vase in the bathroom and it give the whole area a sweet fragrance.

I am going through my collection of favorite cross stitch Magazines and writing down which ones I am missing and which projects I want to do in each one. Right now I am looking at April 1998.

The first one I want to tackle is Easter Sampler by Barbara Core.

Next, I want to do Bluebirds by Kathleen Hurley. Of course most if not all of these I will do on linen.

I love cardinals and so Cardinal Chalkboard by Mike Vickery caught my eye. I called the magazine to see if they might still have the chalkboard but unfortunately they don't. Guess I will search the web and see what I can find. Do any of you have it?

Finally, I saw Proverbs 15:17 Herb Tray and Napkin set by Lois Winston. One of my life goals is to fill our home with cross stitch items that have scripture on them. I can't think of a more welcoming and loving envirnoment to live in day by day.

Well that's all for now. Pumpkin is recovering well and seems to be quite content. She is a trooper and went through her slay surgery without a hitch.

Blessed Stitching,
Sarah Beth
