Holiday Joy.

Jim and I had such a wonderful holiday. The credit goes first and foremost to God for sure. Lately I have been feeling a bit overwhelmed by all my medical issues. Our new church offers real biblical counseling where they train counselors through schooling to use the scriptures to solve life's conflicts and troubles. I have been looking for something like that for quite some time now. So when we started going to this church recently and found that available we signed up . it has helped me so very much to deal with things better. God changed my perspective and attitude and through His Word gave me promises to hang onto that has given me hope and joy. What a blessing his Word is. With those promises written on my heart the burden I had been carrying around of fear and what if has been lifted. Now that I'm less stressed I am more productive so let me show you what I got finished last week.

These are some curtains I made a few months back but they still needed the curtain rod sleeve to be put on the back. Here they are and I love how the light filters through them.

Halloween decorations.

Here is a Halloween kitty I made years ago. The letters are pockets to put little surprises in. It was a panel and sewed up quickly.



And here us my progress on the Halloween quilt sampler from Rosewood Manor.

I'm really enjoying stitching it up. Each block is a quilt block and I hope Karen decides to do more like this. Its so much fun. I got to meet her in Aug at the sewing expo in Indianapolis and even did an interview. I'm still trying to learn how to upload it to my blog. Should I use you tube?

Pears...

Just a quick look at some of what I've been working on. This first is a kit called Golden Pear by bucilla. It came with a charm and a cute background plaid sheet that I am supposed to put the pear on.

My next piece is an band sampler I'm working on tp celebrate our anniversary.

And while I was in Michigan visiting Jims dad and sister..that's Pam that I always talk about. She let me stitch with her very antique Singer sewing machine.

And here is one of the many ships we saw in Port Huron







And we went to Mary Maxims and I got some neat stuff...







Lots more to show in the next post. The no sew quilt hanging kit looks lots of fun. I love the pretty bracelets I got..two dollars a piece!

Old things found

The other day we had our water people out to run line from our reverse osmosis to the fridge for the ice box. Well they had to go through the cabinets and a few drawers. I had them dump the drawers out so I could reorganize them and I found some long forgotten dish warmers I made.

Here is the back. I used different threads on the top and in the bobbin to give this effect and I used a varigated quilting thread for the back.

Here is a close up of the kit I stitched. It was just one of those simple dollar jobbies.

This is my next project....well all that I can tell you about it because its a surprise for someone. Aren't the colors lovely though.

Lila in her vest

We ordered Lila a service vest Thurs and it came today. What a treat. I think she looks great in it. She has lots of room to grow in it. It even has a poo baggy pocket that is so cute. I just have to sew on her patch now.

Organization!!!!

What's the best thing to do in the middle of the night when you can't sleep........organize all the cross stitch magazines. Yes that means seperating them from all the other kinds of craft magazines and other magazines. So what did I do with them...well I sorted them by title and then year. I put them in gallon zip bags and lined them up on the bottom shelf of my bookcase. Now when I am looking for a magazine I don't have to search. Or when I want to look at a bunch I don't have to worry about them getting separated. Also that let's me know which ones I'm missing. Stoney Creek magazine has afghan series and I want to get the ones I'm missing so I can do them. It works so well plus I don't have to worry about the magazines getting damaged.

Yesterday I was on a cleaning kick after I went to look for a bag to put my magazines in. This is funny it all turned into a full days work.

1. Found bag to put magazines in but they had my flutes in it....
2. Rehomed the flutes but next to where I put them I saw two dusty things that needed to go onto the wall....
3. Used wood orange oil on the frames and cleaned the frames and washed the mirror to hang on the wall....
4. Hung up Spartans stained glass picture.....
5. Broke mug when bumped into it on the way out of the nook where I hung stained glass picture......
6. Swept up broken stoneware mug but saw floor was full of dog hair....
7. So swept kitchen floor....
8. Saw entryway/laundry room walls were terribly dirty so got out the Pine Sol and washed them up....
9. Now its dinnertime so I'm cooking dinner....
10. Put WOCS and Stoney Creek magazines in bag that started this whole fiasco....

Later that night.....
11. Brought bag in bedroom to look at magazines and found another Stoney Creek to add to it and saw magazines were a mess and you know the rest ....


But I LOVE the result and I feel really good about it.

Tea wallet

Tea bag wallet

As I was browsing the blogs today I found a tutorial of a tea bag wallet. I had to give it a go. The only thing I would change is get my server out for the final seams. I used an overlock stitch with my Bernina but there was some fraying anyhow. I will have to move my stuff so I can get my server out. I made two one for me and one for my sister. Aren't the colors lovely.

Update on Poppies

I like how this is turning out. I think my friend will too. Its fun to stitch and the colors are very bold. I also like the cotton yarn. The picture on the kit doesn't really do it justice.

This is an oldie but goodie stitch guide that is also from the 70s. It gives great descriptions.

And I also spent part of the day reading this issue of Dog Fancy. I love this magazine.

Poppies

This is my newest project. If you enlarge the photo you'll see its from 1976 which happens to be my birth year. Its from Sunset Designs and on 14 ct white Aida. The floss is cotton embroidery yarn finely twisted and the designer is Donna Kooler. She is one of my fav designers. I got this kit in a batch of eBay kits I won last year. So far its pretty cute. I'm stitching this for someone special.

Here I have the light green border done.

Hummingbird finished

She's all done... had to finish it before bedtime. Now I just have to wash it and frame it. It was a Learn a Craft by Dimensions. Called Hummingbird Duo #742407 Done on 14 ct. White Aida. Copyright 1997. I probably won't frame it with the hoop it came with though. Is rather use the hoop in stitching.

If someone would like the chart I would be happy to pass it on. If there are more than one wanting it I will draw names.

Frogging done

Finally finished frogging heart of the country. It was almost half done by someone else. The stitching was beginner level so I frogged it all with a seam ripper carefully. Its a stamped cross stitch and a friend I met through her reading my blog named Rachel is going to to a SAL with me. I don't think she has a blog so I will post both our updates on it. She is a law student and found her copy in the attic missing some needed parts. I offered to help her out. I got mine in a garage sale. Here are the threads I frogged. They are so cute.
