More progress on Button Basket

Here is the design minus the buttons and the border surrounding is just getting started. I should have it done by tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow I am having a friend over from church who is a fellow cross stitcher to look at patterns and stitch with in the afternoon. I am really looking forward to it.

CSO practice went pretty good. Love the Mendelssohn piece. Of course the Bizet piece is really good too. Lynn and I are sharing solos and having fun with it. We just have those two pieces and the string section is doing a seperate piece.

A Good Day

Today has started off pretty good. Sheba is adjusting pretty well to all the changes. Found out today that Soxie had full blown liver cancer which explains why she went so quickly. I am thankful for it going fast and her not having to suffer so much. I miss them both so much that there is just a raw spot in my gut from it all.

Went to Bible Study at the YMCA and it was so good to see my girlfriends and also visit with my friends from my swim class that I used to attend. Now I am at the the library taking back a book and visiting with my library friends. I am a member of the Friends of the Library and on the board. I really believe in supporting your local library in every way. I grew up practically living in my hometown library and volunteered there for years from age 7-18. Good ole Montrose, Michigan town library. Now its called the Jennings Memorial library. If you are a reader please take time to visit your local library and possibly join their Friends group.

Going home shortly to stitch and relax with my puppy before it is time to go do our taxes. Then it will be off to symphony practice. Yes you heard right...I play flute in the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and I love it. The gals I play with are very nice especially the principal flutist, Lynn. It is a good time all around and this is my first year. Its been a dream of mine to get to this point so I am  so glad God gave me the health boost to allow me achieve this goal. God has done so much for me.

Was listening to Focus on the Family podcast last night about being a good wife and the question was posed "What does it feel like to be my husband." That really has got me thinking. Do I treat him with respect and honor. Do I put his needs before mine. I wish I could say -" Yes ,always." But that just isn't the case at all. So this week I am focusing on him and his needs.

Well have a great day and Blessed Stitching,

Good Morning.

First off I want to tell you all how blessed I am to have such a loving and supportive husband and best friend. He has always supported everything I do from my music...I play flute professionally...to my stitching. He let's me grow my stash to enormous proportions and only giggles when my "Sarah piles" start to get toppled by the Kitties. I love you Jim. You are my perfect soulmate.

Well its been a rough couple of weeks in the Marchuk household. We had a dogfight between our Doby and German Shepherd. Actually the Doby attacked the other. She had done this before and we had to put a stop to it from happening again and we had to put her to sleep. It was just an awful thing to go through. Then that same day our sweet Border Collie, Soxie got real sick and we had to hospitalized her. She came home a few days later doing much better and we thought she was doing much better. Saturday a quarter after midnight she passed away suddenly and our hearts are just broken to bits. For some people they surely would scoff but our animals are our only children and we are their parents. I have chronic illness and can't have children so these babies are our babies. Now there is just Sheba our German Shepherd. Went out today to bring in old blankets of Ravens and toys to give to Sheba. She is happily chewing on a rawhide bone. That is her thing. Not so much squeaky toys or fetch toys but bones definitely.

Here is Soxie Ann. She was our little princess and snuggle bumpkin. She was daddys little girl and we loved her so very much. We got her as a pup in 1998 in February. She passed on March 26.2011.

Here is Raven our little dutchess. She loved to play with little animals that squeaked. This was her little hedgey that she played with. We got her from a rescue in Indianapolis in the summer of 98. We think she must have been rescued from a ring of fighting dogs because after she killed a rabbit years later and got that taste of blood she started attacking our two dogs and we had to separate them. She had always been very fearful and we now know that a fearful dog is the most dangerous kind. We thought we could love that fear out of her and though she was very submissive with adult people we never let her around kids or other animals and rarely other people.

I took some pictures of my WIPs and here they are. The first is a.sampler that I got in a garage sale that was started. I really enjoyed the unique stitches and decided to make it into a quilting project.

Here is a Dimensions kit that is a birdhouse stocking that I have been working on since just before Christmas.

And this is a kit I started years ago that I plan to finish soon by The Hometown Collector called No Place Like Home by Designs For The Needle.

Guess I will spend the rest of the day stitching and practicing my flute. I must say though these times are hard God is still blessing us and loves us more than we can imagine. What would I do with out my Heavenly Daddy. We have gone to Him in prayer so much and each time the Holy Spirit covers us in love and comforting warmth. God you are amazing and wonderful. Let our babies know how much we love and miss them.
Blessed Stitching,
Sarah Beth

Button Basket

After looking at sew many cool stitching blogs online I was inspired to try something different. In my Cross Stitch & Needlework magazine April 99 I found a really cute design by Ewe & Eye & Friends and quickly got to working on it. I know I haven't gotten far but I am excited about it. Here's some pics.

Welcome to my cross stitching blog

Hello, and welcome. I am so excited to be starting my very first cross stitch blog. Needle arts have been a big part of my life for quite a while. I learned to sew very early on and cross stitch at about eight. I fell in love ever since.

I'd like to share with you some of my WIPs and finished projects. When I look at other peoples blogs I love to see what they are working on. I hope many of you will become followers and by that we can have exchanges and round robins. Also, giveaways and contests. Most of all I look forward to getting to know all of you and sharing my stitching, my faith in God, and my thoughts with you.

Here is a little kit I finished last night. I'm not sure where I had gotten it from but I know I got it years ago.

This cute cat one is something I stitched a while ago from the Leisure Arts booklet- Cats Galore

And here is a real cute kit I got on clearance at Half Price Books for only one dollar. It is a stamped cross stitch. I've always been a counted only girl....but I found it to be fun, easy, and quite detailed. I was always worried it would be sloppy looking but it looked quite nice. Since then I have started other stamped projects.

I will add some WIPs later on. Does anyone have any Marjolein Bastin charts they would be willing to share. If so leave me a comment please.

Blessed Stitching,
Sarah Beth Marchuk
