Lots of pictures.

Sunday I tried a new recipe. It is called Braided Chinese Chicken. I got the recipe from my Mother in laws old cookbook by Readers digest. It's called Quick, Thrifty Cooking. In these times we are always looking for ways to save a little money. These recipes are easy also.



Let me say my husband really was impressed.

Got this nice picture from a lady at church who took this to add to the directory. We've only been there for about a year and we missed the directory.

Got another cute encouraging card from my friend, Marie. She is so nice.

Also got a letter from my friend, Miriam.

Goodies in the mail.

My good friend , Tiina and I are exchanging patterns. She sending her old MB ones and I sending some of my finished ones and magazines and.DMC floss. I am so grateful to her and.what a lift to my day.



Also got another sweet card from my friend, Marie. She is so thoughtful and such an encourager.

And Jim ordered the Jesse Stone movies based on Robert Parkers books. They came today too.



Now we are going to Big Boy and then we will watch Night Passage. I've read the book already.

Early anniversary present.

Our anniversary is coming up September 6. We will be married 14 years. I have to say I am a very blessed woman. My husband loves me more than life itself. He spoils me every chance he gets and I spoil him too. I married my best friend. Not many couples can say that. From the day he put that ring on my finger I knew he would honor his vows and do it with love.

You see we've had a lot of storms in our fourteen years. Shortly after we got married...about two years I became sick. For five years it went undiagnosed and I was in the hospital and doctors offices constantly. It not only was a emotional and physical burden but also financial. Jim had good employment and good insurance but, it was still a great financial strain. Insurance doesn't cover everything and after a while he has to cash his 401k to cover all the medical bills that had piled up. In 04 I was diagnosed with Recurrent Transverse Myelitis. At first we were excited that it wasn't MS after all. Later after learning about it we found it was worse. Then the next year we had a cancer scare that required major surgery to remove the tumor and all of the thymus . What started out as an alternative to open chest surgery turned into worse. They used a Davinci robot to get the tumor but a major artery was cut and I ended up with open chest surgery after all. I nearly died from bleeding out. Thankfully it wasn't cancer. Jim has been at my side holding me up the whole time. All the while taking care of me and working a very stressful job as a packaging engineer in the corporate world.

Most men would have left years ago. But he has stayed and supported me 200%. What a gift God have me when he picked out my husband for me. I could go on forever but I think you get the idea. He is a gentle, big
hearted, family loving, God fearing man and I love him with everything that is in me . I love you sweetie.

Here is my gift to him.

And this is his gift to me. I have been wanting this magazine for a long time.

I loved the shelf mushrooms. I has never seen them before. Does anyone know what the names of the other plants and the smaller mushrooms are so I can go back and lable them later.

El Reparo and hoe exchange

Jim took me out the other day to our favorite Mexican restaurant called El Reparo ......it was delicious.

There is Jim with his huge steak burrito. It was pretty yummy but the steak was tough.

I had the nachos supreme. Oh my gosh was that good. I think I get the same thing almost every time I go.

Here is a look inside.

Isn't this metal sun interesting. It has little stars stamped out of it all over.

The bathroom sink was really a clever idea and very beautiful.

And this is made out of all different types of wood. There are many individual pieces that make up the whole piece of art.

Here is my hoe ornament from oubilette. It is designed by lizzie Kate and instead of floss she did the whole design in beads. It's very beautiful. Thanks so much oubilette.

Christmas quilt

This is the first quilt I ever made from a Magazine. Yes its way too busy. I defenitly agree but I plan to finish it anyways. I have a dk olive green that matches for the binding and who knows what I will use on the back. But here it is. I am also working on dads quilt and will take a pic and post on that soon too.



Notice Pumpkin giving her stamp of approval. What is it about a cat and a quilt. They just have to come lay on them. Miss K was up there right with her when I spread it out. Lol.

Another book and some mail.

I finished another Elm Creek Quilts book by Jennifer Chiaverini. This was called A Quilters Holiday. It was centered around Thanksgiving and all the group is together for the day after Turkey day. Sylvia finds out she isn't the last of her family after all. Anna is conflicted with her relationship with Jeremy. Diane hurries back home to her visiting sons but the snowstorm has a mind of its own and is more stubborn than Diane. Sarah and Matt are having twins and Matts dad is pulling him to take over his business where Sarah sees this coming and is not pleased. She puts her foot down and only time will tell what comes of it.
This one kept me up late trying to finish it.

Got some nice cards from friends and family. First, Pam sent me a cute card by Marjolein Bastin. She is a favorite nature artist from Holland, the Netherlands. Pam knows she is a favorite so she gets those for me on purpose.

The next is a cute card of encouragement from my friend, Marie. She and I both have some health issues in common and I grew up with her and her husband across the street from my house. She is always sending a card or email to encourage and chit chat. I'm thankful for her friendship.

Finally, I got a envelope from The Stitchers Village. I won some linen from them to make a sampler band to be combined with everyone who sends one in. They will be stitched together and form a really long band sampler. Hopefully it will make the Guineas Book of World Records.

Reading.

I have been reading while working on on exchanges that I can't post about.



The Friday Night Knitting Club. This one was like a Debbie Macomber and was really good. I love books like this. There is more than one story going on.

I also read Circle of Quilters by Jennifer Chiaverini. Loved this. The elm creek quilters had to replace two of their teachers. Each chapter told the story and interview of each applicant called to be interviewed. Then of course there is the decision then a surprise romance. It was so good that I started another of her books.


This is a mystery and the ministers wife series by Guideposts. For the Least of These. A really good book about a young girl waiting for her mom to come back home after it had been way too long. She approached the ministers wife to work her garden to make enough money to eat. A good mystery. I love this series because they are quick reads and inspiring.

Finally, I got a card from my secret pen pal.
